Some Tantalizing Details About the New Ineos Fusilier

Ineos Automotive has unveiled its newest 4X4 vehicle, the Ineos Fusilier, that follows the confirmation of a zero-emissions model lineup in May of 2022. The new Fusilier will deliver world-class off-road capability, without any compromise in terms of on-road performance. You’ll have your choice of zero- and low-emission options.

The new Ineos Fuselier will achieve a delicate balance

Launched in London by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Ineos confirmed that, along with the previously announced all-electric powertrain, a low emission range-extender electric vehicle is in development to ensure that the Ineos Fusilier meets the broadest possible range of consumer needs while moving towards decarbonization. The range-extender option will consist of a small gasoline engine that runs a generator to maintain a proper charge level for the battery when an external charging resource isn’t available.

A high level of construction quality at a facility in Austria

Ineos forged a partnership with an industry-leading automotive supplier, Magna, that will manufacture the new Fusilier at its facility in Graz, Austria. The new Ineos Fusilier will build on the Grenadier’s renowned family DNA with a contemporary approach and a unique identity of its own. This new 4X4 will be slightly shorter in length and slightly lower in height than the renowned Grenadier. It will be built on a dedicated skateboard platform with a steel top hat and underbody, along with aluminum doors and closures.

The partnership with Magna has a firm foundation

Ineos teamed up with Magna for the development of the Grenadier station wagon and the Quartermaster pickup. As one of the world’s foremost automotive suppliers, Magna builds capable internal combustion vehicles as well as hybrid and electrics for a variety of automakers. Part of the development process for the Ineos Fusilier will include a comprehensive testing program on Austria's Schöckl mountain, which is close to Magna's vehicle assembly plant in Graz.

Ineos is pursuing decarbonization on other fronts as well

Ineos Automotive demonstrated its broader commitment to future decarbonization by unveiling a Grenadier Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology Demonstrator model at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July of 2023. The Demonstrator represents proof that the technology for a hydrogen-powered 4X4 is ready for production. However, the refueling infrastructure will need to be in place before the hydrogen fuel cell concept becomes commercially viable.

About Ineos Motors

If you're not familiar with the Ineos brand, allow us to introduce you. Ratcliffe saw the need for a fundamental, utilitarian 4x4 after Land Rover retired the original Defender. His solution was to create Ineos Motors and develop the Grenadier, a rugged SUV that combines classic design with modern engineering.
